Mavis Burl Moore Bateman married Henry Ollene "Hank" Bateman on Jan 18, 1936 in Brookston, TX, Lamar Co. They had 1 son and 1 daughter. Source: Obituary found in The Lamar County Echo dated 13 Jul 1989: Mavis Bateman, 69, wife of H. O. Bateman of Gruver, TX, died at Hugley Hospital in Ft. Worth at 8:45 p.m. Saturday, 1 Jul 1989. Services were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, 5 Jul, at the First Baptist Church in Roxton with the Rev. Kenneth Coleman and the Rev. A. G. Purvis officiating. Burial was in Restland Cemetery at Roxton by Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home. Mrs. Bateman was born 15 Nov 1919, in High, a daughter of George Moore and Pearl Grace Keithley Moore. She attended Roxton schools and married Mr. Bateman on 18 Jan 1930 (was 1936). They lived in Roxton before moving to Stinnett. They have lived in Gruver for 30 years. She was a member of the Gruver Baptist Church and its ladies adult Sunday school class. She taught in the training union at the church for several years. Surviving are her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Harley Boyd of Mena, AR; one son, Kenneth Bateman of Godley; five grandchildren, Dewayne Boyd, Charles Boyd and Deanna Boyd, all of Mena, and Korey Bateman and Kimberly Bateman, both of Godley; and a sister, Ruth Kilpatnck of Trinidad.
