Bio

Son of Fred & Erna (Garlepow) Abegglen. He received his education in Columbus. Art married Phyllis Jackson on December 5, 1940 in Schuyler, Nebraska. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1943-1945 in the Pacific Theatre. Art was a Bronze Star recipient. He also received the Philippine Liberation Ribbon awarded for participation against the enemy during the Philippine Island Campaign, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Distinguished Unit Citation. Upon his return to Columbus Art worked at the alfalfa mill. He then worked construction as a brick layer for 26 years. Art then worked at C.K. Planing Mill for 15 years until his retirement. He was a member of St. Lukes United Church of Christ where he was confirmed, American Legion and Veteran of Foreign War. Art is survived by: Wife: Phyllis Abegglen of Columbus, NE Son: Gary J.
