Nadine M. (Zavodny) Svoboda, 89, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at Brookestone Acres in Columbus following a short illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church on Monday, November 2, at 10:30 A.M. with Father Del Lape officiating. Interment will be in the All Saints Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 - 4:00 P.M. with a 4:00 P.M. vigil and on Monday from 9:30 – 10:30 A.M. at St. Anthony’s Church. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials to donor's/family choice. Nadine M. Svoboda was born on April 26, 1926, in Butler County, Nebraska, to William and Stephie (Kliment) Zavodny. She attended Dist. No. 48 Butler County and graduated from East Butler High School in Brainard in 1944. After graduation Nadine attended Midland College in Fremont, Nebraska and taught school in her former elementary school Dist. #48 and rural Dwight school for five years. Nadine married Leonard J. Svoboda on June 30, 1948, at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Lincoln. Nadine and her family moved to Columbus in January 1958. She worked at Becton Dickenson Medical Supply from 1958-1961 after moving to Columbus. Nadine was a longtime member of St. Anthony Church. Nadine loved Czech music and going to Polka dances around the state and listening to music on the radio. Nadine enjoyed being a homemaker, reading, cooking, doing the word jumbles in the newspaper, and taking her daily walk. Nadine is survived by: Son and Daughter-In Law: David and Deborah (Loseke) Svoboda of Columbus, NE Sister-In-Law: Gladys Svoboda of Lincoln, NE Sister-In-Law: Adeline Svoboda of Columbus, NE Sister-In-Law: Lucille Brauckmuller of Waverly, NE Sister-In Law: Mable Svoboda of Lincoln, NE Nadine was preceded in death by: Husband: Leonard Svoboda of Columbus-April 8, 2014 Father: William Zavodny Mother: Stephie (Kliment) Zavodny Brothers and Sisters-In-Law: Williard & Dolores Zavodny, Ernie & Elsie Divis and Brothers-In-Law: Charles Danaher, Ernest Svoboda, Emanuel Svoboda, Raymond Svoboda, Earl Brauckmuller, and Daniel Svoboda
