Bio

Ben E. Foytik, Sr., 71, a resident of Grand Prairie, died Tuesday morning, May 31, in Grand Prairie hospital. Born in Bomarton, Texas, he had been a Grand Prairie. resident for the past eight years and was a former longtime resident of Irving, and was also formerly of Grapevine. He retired in 1984 after 34 years in the food industry. In 1986, he became business manager for Dr. Reg McDaniel and was secretary treasurer for the Fisher Institute for Medical Research in Grand Prairie. He was a colonel in the Confederate Air Force and served in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II on B-26 bombers. He was a member of the Wichita Falls Masonic Lodge Number 635 in Wichita Falls. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Grand Prairie. On Sept. 23, 1993, he and his wife, Helen Hickey Foytik, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 2, from Baker Chapel, First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jim Keith. Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday in Electra Cemetery under direction of Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home, Fort Worth. Survivors include his wife; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Woodie Scott of Waco; a daughter and son-in-law, Pam and James Cole of Commerce; a son and daughter-in-law, Ben Foytik, Jr., and Kim of Palmdale, CA and four grandchildren, Kim and Kyle Scott, Rachel and Regan Foytik.
