AURORA — Betty Green, 89, of Aurora died Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015, at Hamilton Manor. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Aurora United Methodist Church. The Rev. Karla Sheffy will officiate. Burial will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements. Betty M. Green, was born March 18, 1926, at Chapman to Roy and Lizzie (Zlomke) Wagner. Betty grew up on a farm west of Central City. She graduated from Central City High School in 1943. On Feb. 9, 1947, she was united in marriage to Harlan Green at Aurora. Following their marriage, they lived in Aurora, where she helped her husband with the farm. Betty accompanied her husband on his many lay witness missions across the country. Harlan died Jan. 2, 1995. Betty was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Deborah Circle and the United Methodist Women. She served on the Board of Christian Women’s Club for many years. She was also a member of the Nimble Thimble Quilt Guild in Aurora. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Rodney Green; and two brothers, Gale and Bobby Wagner. Those who remain to cherish her memory are her daughter, Polly (Bob) Cardwell of Denver; grandchildren, Kristi (James) Wertz of Rock Springs, Wyo., Travis (Shayla) Thelander of Blue Hill, Tiffany, Amber and Krystyl Cure of Marquette, Nikki Bryan of Shreveport, La., and Eric Shaffer of Miami, Okla.; great-grandchildren, Dakota and Jax Wertz and Briley Thelander; daughter-in-law, Teresa Cure of Marquette; nieces, Bobby (Paul) Parks of Aurora and Janice Wagner of Takoma Park, Md.; and special friend, John Green, of Aurora.
