"Wally" Walahoski, 74, of Grand Island died Friday, April 11, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. Private family graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Jack Rademacher will officiate. There will be no visitation. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Walahoski was born on Sept. 15, 1928, in Elyria to Joseph and Anna (Grabowski) Walahoski. Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Lucille of Grand Island; two sons, Tom Wolahoski of Henderson, Colo., and Steve Walahoski of Lincoln; and a daughter, Debra Johnson of Woodland Park, Colo. Additional survivors include six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Walahoski received his education in Elyria. After his education, he farmed in the Elyria area. He married Lucille A. Lilienthal on April 26, 1958, in Grand Island. The couple moved to Grand Island in 1960. Mr. Walahoski was employed as a truck driver for Nash Finch for 31 years, retiring in 1991. He loved to play the accordion, spend time with his family, and in his younger years, participate in rodeos. He was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church and the Platte-Duetsche. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ted Walahoski; and one sister, Elizabeth Baade. Memorials are suggested to the family.
