Alvin Mares was born to his loving parents Leopold and Katherine Rose (Brych) Mares on Tuesday March 2, 1909 at Morse Bluff, Saunders County Nebraska. My research found no information on Alvin's childhood or schooling. Alvin served in the US Army during World War II from Monday May 18, 1942 to Thursday August 10, 1944, a total of 2 years, 2 months, 24 days. Alvin lived in the Morse Bluff area until 1958 when he moved to a farm northeast of North Bend, Dodge County. Alvin was united in marriage to Elsie Fencl on Tuesday March 25, 1958 at Columbus, Platte County. Alvin retired from farming in 1981 and moved into North Bend in 1988. Alvin was a member of the Morse Bluff American Legion. Alvin sadly passed on Friday June 14, 1991 at the Schuyler Hospital, Colfax County at the age of 82 years, 3 months, 12 days which does not include his last day, he lived a total of 30,054 days. Alvin's funeral was held at Moser Memorial Chapel at North Bend on Monday morning June 17, 1991 with Rev. Hugh Schwartz of St. Charles Catholic Church officiating. Interment was in the Killian Hill (Czech National) Cemetery near Morse Bluff with military graveside services conducted by members of the Morse Bluff American Legion and North Bend VFW. His pallbearers were members of these two groups. Alvin's information was provided from researching many resources and my memory. This biography was created as an honor to Alvin by Loren R. I believe all lives matter, even the lives of those who have passed. Many details are still missing from his life, if you have any more details I will be happy to edit the additional information into this biography.
