Edna Jane Alderman October 18, 1924 - December 03, 2018 Edna Jane (Walker) Alderman, age 94, passed away Monday, December 3, 2018 at Bronte Health and Rehab Center. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Maryneal Baptist Church with Rev. Truman Davis, Rev. T.J. Johnson, and Revs. Betty and Don Dunavant officiating. Burial will follow at Maryneal Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9:00 until 11:30 A.M. Saturday at the church. She will lie in state Thursday and Friday at the funeral home. Edna was born October 18. 1924 in Sweetwater to the late John E. and Sarah (Fomby) Walker. She married Memry Franklin Alderman on May 31, 1941 at Robert Lee, Texas. He passed away July 4, 1993. Edna was a graduate of Highland High School by correspondence and walked the stage with the class of 1948. She was a homemaker, had lived in Maryneal most of her life and was a lifelong member of the Baptist Church. Her father, John E. Walker, was pastor of Maryneal Baptist Church many years ago. She had been a 4-H Leader on a local, county, district and state level, was a member of the Roscoe Eastern Star Chapter where she was past Worthy Matron, and was a past member of the Maryneal Red Hat Club. Edna loved her hand crafts, quilting and most of all making her Christmas stockings. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother. Edna is survived by her daughters, Janet Alderman Backer and husband Roger of Water Valley, Texas, Gwendolyn Alderman Mock and husband Jim of Star Lake, Washington; son, Theo Alderman and wife Shirley of Sweetwater; and a step-son, Chris Backer and wife Angela of Eastland. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Allen Alderman of Austin, Dayla and Roger Graham of Sweetwater, and Christie Lotspiech and Mark of Gunter; three great-grandchildren, Krystle Murdock Oliver, Eric Murdock and Jordan Van Roder; and five great-great-grandchildren, Jeffery, Aiden, Sophia, Ella and Reid. Edna is also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sue Murdock and a step-granddaughter, Bonnie Perry. Pallbearers will be Allen Alderman, Roger Graham, Mark Lotspiech, Wes Van Roder, Eric Murdock and Bradley Hall.
