Lester F. "Les" Corwin, 84, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, Oct. 3, at Sartori Memorial Hospital. He was born July 19, 1931, in Cedar Falls, son of Frank and Evella Jordan Corwin. He married Barbara DeBuhr on Aug. 5, 1951, in Waterloo; she died Oct. 13, 1980. He married Shirley Gregory Bandfield on May 22, 1982. Les graduated from Waterloo West High in 1949 and served as a field radio operator in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War, attaining the rank of sergeant. He worked as a foundry engineer at John Deere Waterloo Works, retiring in 1985. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Cedar Falls. Preceded in death by: two brothers, Glen and Tom; and two sisters, Beatrice Neuhalfen and Edith Close. Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9, at First United Methodist Church, Cedar Falls, with private family burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo, at a later date. Military rites will be conducted at the church by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49 and the USMC Honor Guard.
