Bio
Gilbert ‘Junior’ Flande, 85, of Scio went to be with the Lord on Friday. Junior was born in Lamar, Colo., to Gilbert and Josephine Flande. He grew up in Colorado on the family farm. He moved to Scio when he was in his early 20s and married Shirley Krause on June 19, 1954. Junior retired from the Linn County Road Department in 1993. He was also a long time cattle rancher and very involved in the local 4-H and FFA activities. He enjoyed working on his farm and spending time with family and friends. Junior is survived by his wife, Shirley of Scio; daughters Teresa Clemens of Ronan, Mont., Belinda Allen of Bend and Margie Schmidig of Stayton; son Mark Flande of Scio; twin brother Michael “Mick” Flande of Scio; grandchildren Jason Storie, Kyle Schmidig, Courtney Schmidig, Jared Flande; and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday, June 27, at Weddle Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 28, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Jordan. Weddle Funeral Services is handling arrangements.
