Daughter of Alvin b.~1860 PA) and Rosanna Birch (b.~1835 NY) Frost Married first, ~1881 IA, Charles Edward Hurlbert (~1847 NY-1890 NE) Married second, Feb 28 1891 Taylor, Loup, NE, George Ransom Nightingale Another Nightingale son, Floyd (d. in infancy) ---------------------------------------- Mrs. Nightingale Dies In Burwell Friends in both Ord and Burwell were shocked to learn Wednesday of the death of Mrs. George Nightingale, who passed quietly after suffering a stroke, at the age of 86 years, 1 month and 21 days. Her health had been fairly good, considering her age, but this winter she had been making her home with her son, Roy and family at Burwell. Mrs. Nightingale was a woman of rare character, beloved by all who knew for her kindness and her willingness to help in time of trouble. She was always a hard worker and was noted, especially in her younger years, for her happy and friendly disposition. She was a firm believer in the church, and she showed the principles of Christianity in her every day life. Mary Frost was born in Westmoreland Co., Pa., Jan. 27, 1860. She was moved with the family to Storm Lake, Ia., about 1880. In 1882, in Iowa, she was married to Charles Hurlbert. They came to Nebraska in 1890, locating in Burwell. Mr. Hurlbert died shortly after their arrival, leaving four children; Ed of Ord; Nettie Darrah, deceased; Bert, deceased; and Della Lashmett, deceased. In 1892 she was married to George Nightingale of Saunders county, the ceremony being performed at Taylor. They lived 18 years in Custer county and moved to Ord 36 years ago, making their home on the property they still own in east Ord. Two sons were born to them, Roy Ransom of Burwell and Floyd, who died in infancy. Mrs. Nightingale was a member of the Christian Adventist church until they moved to Ord, when she became a member of the Ord Church of Christ, and was a faithful member until her death. Besides her husband, she leaves to mourn her son, Roy of Burwell, twenty nine grandchildren, forty great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Ord Church of Christ, Sunday, March 10, at 2 pm, the pastor, K.E. Harris in charge. The Mitchell mortuary of Burwell was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Ord cemetery. The Ord Quiz - Thur, Mar 14 1946, Pg 7, Col 2
