Fort Bend Herald, November 11, 2007: Jill Mathews Miller, 53, passed away peacefully Thursday Nov. 8, 2007, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born June 28, 1954 to Charles and Marie Mathews in Fraser, Mich. She met and later married her husband, Eugene Miller of Guy, while serving in the U.S. military overseas. She was an active member of the Needville Bluejay Booster Club and was always willing to help anyone who needed her assistance. Thoughts of others always came before thoughts of herself. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles “Bill” Mathews; and niece, Jennifer Kless. She is survived by her loving husband, Eugene, and four children: Nicky Jernigan and husband, Matt, of Guy, Dawn Miller and fiance Paul Charanza, of Needville, Stacy Miller of Guy, and B.J. Miller of College Station; mother, Marie Mathews of Fraser, Mich.; sisters: Nancy Mathews of Escanaba, Mich., Judy Lapak and husband, Jim of Shelby Township, Mich., Tracey Fish and husband, Brian, of Bloomfield Twp., Mich.; and brother Charles Mathews Jr. and wife, Mona, of Sterling Heights, Mich.; as well as numerous other family members and friends. In her typical giving spirit, Jill decided that she wanted to donate her body to medical research to help a future student learn more to help others in need. A memorial service is at 11 a.m Monday Nov. 12, 2007, at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Needville.
