Bio

Floyd Stewart Buried in Ord Floyd William Stewart, the eldest son of William E. and Sylvia Beranek Stewart, was born on July 26, 1914 on a farm 16 miles northwest of Ord and died September 12 at the Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings at the age of 55. When he was six years old, the family moved to Ord where his father died. At the age of 18, he entered the United States Army where he served four and one half years during World War II. After his discharge, he farmed for several years in the Ord vicinity. Prior to his illness, he was custodian of the Burwell High School. He was a member of the Burwell V.F.W., and American Legion and attended the United Methodist Church in Burwell. Survivors include his wife, Laura; two daughters, Cherolynn Nikkila of Kenesaw and Bonita Stewart of Burwell; two sons, Ronald of Columbus and Daniel of Lexington; his mother and step-father, Sylvia and Ernest Kirby of Ord; three brothers, Alwin of Tecumseh, Lyle of Cairo and Lores of Creston, IA; three grandchildren, Rene and Tonya Flavell and Shawn Nikkila of Kenesaw; and many nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents. Funeral services were conducted in Burwell on September 15, 1979 at the United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Ord City Cemetery.
