Bio

Faye Weatherford, 91, of Bridgeport died Friday, Sept. 4. Funeral is 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport with Dr. Craig Erb officiating. Visitation is 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Faye was born Nov. 24, 1923, in Montague County to George and Myrtle Barclay Moss but spent most of her life in Wise County – Chico, Rhome, Boyd and Bridgeport. She was married for 63 years to George Euford Weatherford. They lived on the west side of Bridgeport in the same house they bought in 1953. That house and yard was her hobby. She loved her church , First Baptist in Bridgeport ,and had a gift serving in the kitchen, clothes closet and at Vacation Bible School. She loved visiting shut-ins and had creative ways of drawing the attention of people’s needs to the church. Faye worked as a nurse for 11 years at the Bridgeport Hospital, but she was primarily a homemaker, taking care of her family and elderly neighbors. In 1977, she and Euford were voted Best Neighbor in a contest sponsored by the Wise County Messenger. Faye was always busy, up early and never napping. She enjoyed the Rangers and Cowboys. She did not particularly like cooking, but she made great coconut cream and pecan pies. Faye suffered from dementia and its effect on her body. Her time at her daughter’s house was spent sweeping, dusting and ironing. She folded the laundry until all she could do was stack it. She was just “compact energy” and is no doubt already sweeping the “streets of gold.” Faye is survived by her daughter, Trudy Nicholson and husband, Norman, of Plano and their three daughters and their families; stepson Joe Paul Weatherford and wife, Mary Lou, of Dimmitt and their two sons, two daughters and their families.
