MANITOWOC, Wisc. — Sister Teresa Luetkenhaus, 91, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, died Friday evening, July 31, 2015, at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, Wisconsin. The former Thelma Luetkenhaus was born Jan. 23, 1924, in Lindsay, daughter of the late Henry and Anna (Boesch) Luetkenhaus. She entered the Convent in 1940 and professed her vows in 1942. Sister Teresa earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Silver Lake College, Manitowoc, Wisconsin, and a Master of Arts from Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Sister Teresa was a teacher and/or principal at St. Michael, Whitelaw, St. Boniface, Manitowoc, St. Mary, Algoma, St. Joseph, Green Bay, St. Anthony, Oconto Falls, St. Pius & St. Bernadette, Appleton, St. Andrew, Potosi, St. Mary, Hilbert, all in Wisconsin, Guardian Angels, West Point; St. Francis and Immaculate Conception, Yuma, Arizona; St. Theresa, Kekaha, Hawaii. She also served as a part-time remedial teacher at St. Nicholas, Zanesville, Ohio, and Rhinelander Catholic Central, Rhinelander, Wisconsin, and visitor of the elderly at St. Mary, West Point. Since 2008 she had been a resident of St. Rita Health Center at the Motherhouse. Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; one sister-in-law, Agnes Luetkenhaus of Columbus; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Anna (Boesch) Luetkenhaus; six brothers and four sisters-in-law, Herman and Elsie Luetkenhaus, Andrew Luetkenhaus, Henry and Coletta Luetkenhaus, Frank and Nora Luetkenhaus, Jacob Luetkenhaus and Eugene Luetkenhaus; and five sisters and three brothers-in-law, Marie Luetkenhaus, Angela Luetkenhaus, Anna and Cyril Braun, Mildred and Norbert Van Dyke and Margie and Maynard Kurtenbach. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. today at Holy Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial was the Rev. Placid Stroik with burial at Holy Family Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc. The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, assisted the family with funeral arrangements.
