Joseph Miska Passes Away Well Known Resident Answers Call Friday: Funeral Held From Bohemian Hall Monday The Ord community has suffered a great loss in the sudden passing of Joseph Miska, a pioneer, successful business farmer; a good man. He not only succeeded in business way but he also succeeded in endearing himself to all who came in contact with him and he died as he lived, quietly for he was found dead sitting peacefully in his chair at the end of a busy and useful day and this ended a busy and useful life, a life that may justly be said to have been a success in every sense of the word. Joseph Miska was born on January 11, 1856 near Prague, Bohemia and died on October 25, 1929 at his farm home a few miles north of Ord, Nebraska, aged 73 years, 8 months and 11 days. He came to America in 1872 and located at Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In a short time he moved to Kansas where he was united in marriage with Catherine Kasper. In 1889 the two moved to Valley county and this has been their home since. His wife proceeded him in death on the 26th of November, 1921. One daughter, Rosie died on the 27th day of February, 1914. Mr. Miska leaves to mourn his going eight children, Mary, Wesley, Frank, Ed., Emma, Fred, Agnes and Eva. There are also 15 grandchildren. He was a faithful and loving husband and father and besides his relatives he leaves to mourn his departure, a host of neighbors and friends. “He has gone from us; we are left behind to mourn. But this we are assured, that God with us will journey on through life; and heal the hearts now torn, and though at times cast down, we'll keep an eye on God through toil and strife”. Funeral services were largely attended at the Bohemian Hall, Rev. Fillipe of Clarkson having charge of the services Monday afternoon. Interment was in the Ord Cemetery.
