Double Funeral Service Held - For Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Francl Friday, July 17 - A double funeral service was held for Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Francl at the Saint Peter and Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul at 9 a.m. last Friday with Father Robert Warner officiating. Singing was provided by Harold McDermott. Burial was made in a cemetery in Grand Island. Mr. and Mrs. Francl received fatal injuries in a collision on the highway two miles south of St. Paul on Tuesday night, July 14th. [....funeral details...] Phoebe Francl was born June 25, 1891 to Anton and Magdaline Kremlacek at Wahoo, Nebraska and was 62 years and 19 days old at the time of her death. She and Edward J. Francl were married January 10, 1911 at Warsaw, Nebraska, and they made their home in Gage Valley since their marriage. They are survived by two daughters: Mrs. Louis A. (Lillian) Kowskie of Omaha and Mrs. J. H. (Erma) Nitzel, Sr. of Grand Island, one son Edwin E. Francl of Palmer; and three grandchildren, Terry, Robert and Susan Francl. Mrs. Francl also leaves four sisters: Mrs. Louie Horky, Denver, Colorado; Mrs. Alvin Matousek, San Francisco, California; Miss Bessie Kremlacek and Mrs. Clayton Jacobs of St. Paul, Nebr. Edward J. Francl was born January 13, 1888 at Farwell, Nebraska, son of Joseph and Anna Francl. He attended school and grew up around Farwell. He lived to be 65 years, 6 months and 1 day old. Besides his children and grandchildren, Mr. Francl is survived by his mother, Mrs. Anna Francl of Omaha, and 6 brothers: Joe Francl and W. J. Francl of Omaha; John Francl of Brule; James and Alfred Francl of Genoa, Colorado; Louie Francl of Ogallala, Nebr. The Palmer Journal, July 23, 1953, page 4, transcribed by Linda Berney
