Father: Garnie James Lane Mother: Mary Kate Marsh Rogersville-- Dr. Joe C. Lane, 58, 205 Hawkins St., Rogersville, died Thursday ( Oct. 18, 1990) at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C., while visiting his family. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Rogersville. He graduated from the Univesity of Tennesse in Knoxville and the University of Tennessee School of Dentistry in Memphis with honors. Dr. Lane was a member of the First District Dental Society, the Tennessee State and American Dental Societies and was a former member of the Rogersville Kiwanis Club. He served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Naval Dental Corp in the Korean War. Surviving are his wife, Martha Lane, of the home; two daughters, Kimberly A. Weis, New Jersey, Laura Lane, Washington,D.C.; one son, Joe C. Lane Jr., Nashville; three brothers, Dr. Paul E. Lane and Dr. R. Lynn Lane both of Rogersvile, Dr. Donald R. Lane, Atlanta, Ga.; three sisters, Mrs. Gayle Baker, Kingsport, Mrs, Betty Sheeler, Lexington, Ky., Mrs. Katherine Davis, Rogersville; several nieces and nephews. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Colboch-Price Funeral Home, Rogersville. Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jack Randles and the Rev. Ronell Owensby officiating. Private graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Highland Cemetery. ( Joe C. Lane is part of the pioneer William Lane family of Sullivan Co. There is evidence that this Lane family is not related to the Scott Co. Lanes.)
