*NOTE: GRAVESTONE SAYS "NELSEN" BUT "HISTORY OF AUDUBON, IOWA" BIO SAYS "NELSON" AS DO THEIR CHILDREN'S GRAVESTONES History of Audubon, Iowa; Audubon Centennial 1878-1978 page 8B: A.C. Nelson A.C. Nelson (Andreas Chris) was born May 10, 1837, in Denmark, the son of Nels Larson and Hannah Turkelson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Denmark. In the early 1870's, he came to America, working in various communities in the state, and later came to Audubon, where he worked on the railroad. A brother, Peter, came a few years later. In 1881, he married Juliane Marie Pedersen, in Audubon. She was born in Lindsbjerg, Rise sogn, Aero, Denmark, the daughter of Laurits Pedersen and Anna Olsen. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church there, and also received her schooling there. She came to America in 1880. A sister, Mrs. Peter Hansen of Elk Horn, had arrived earlier. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson made their first home east of Exira, and in the spring of 1887, they moved to a farm northwest of Exira. This farm later became the home of their eldest son, Lars, for 30 years, and then the home of a grandson, Raymond F. Nelson, who lived there until his death in 1976. His sons now live there. This couple became the parents of three sons: Lars, Andrew, and Peter; and six daughters: Annie, Marie, Carrie, Minnie, Lena, and Alma. They were early members of St. John's Lutheran Church, west of Exira, Iowa. Mr. Nelson died in 1902, and his widow, with her nine children, continued to live on the farm. She moved to Exira in the spring of 1913, where she resided until her death in 1918. + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + shown as Andrew C.
