Bio
Phillip Wendell Murphree, 78, of Straight Mountain, AL passed away at his residence on August 8, 2015. Mr. Murphree served in the United States Navy and later worked as a Postman for the USPS. He enjoyed ranching and raising cattle and horses and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by parents, Neulson B. and Myrtie Edna Murphree; and two sisters. Mr. Murphree is survived by wife, Patty Jo Murphree of Straight Mountain; sons, Stephen Murphree (Linda), Mitchell Murphree (Christy) and Tim Murphree (Suzy) all of Oneonta; grandchildren, Justin Murphree, Kendra Murphree, Beth Murphree, Carmen Murphree, Raegan Murphree, Reid Murphree and Riley Murphree; great grandchildren, Perry Murphree and Jack Murphree. Rev. Robert Wamble and Bro. Dewayne Bentley officiated graveside services on Sunday, August 9, 2015 from Murphree's Family Cemetery on Straight Mountain. Pallbearers: Randy Harris, Francisco Ayala, Dewayne Bates, Top Walker, Billy Tolbert and Mike Gilliland. [Long Family Funeral Homes obit via internet]
