William "Bill" J. Howard January 18, 1926 - August 9, 2015 William "Bill" J. Howard, 89, longtime Hereford resident, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2015, at King's Manor Nursing Home, Westgate. Services are pending. (Published by Hereford Heritage Funeral Home, August 10, 2015) ----- William “Bill” Jennings Howard, 89, longtime Hereford resident died Sunday, August 9, 2015 in Hereford. A Graveside Service is scheduled for 10:00 am, Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Rest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Hereford. Masonic Rites will be provided by the Hereford Masonic Lodge # 849 A. F. & A. M. Military honors will be provided by the Department of Navy. Services are under the direction of Hereford Heritage Funeral Home, 411 E 6th Street. Bill was born, January 18, 1926 in Gainesville, Texas, to Gregg and Zada Elizabeth (Cole) Howard. He met and fell in love with his best friend, Pauline “Leny” Loerwald. They married on March 25, 1949 in Hereford. Bill was a Baptist by faith. He was an accountant and worked with his brother Tom before becoming office manager for Poarch Brothers Manufacturing. Bill liked to play golf, fish, travel with Leny, play baseball in his younger years, watch golf and “The Five” on TV. Bill was an Honorably Discharged WWII veteran of the Navy. He was a devoted husband to Leny. She was his world and life. Bill was a member of the Hereford Masonic Lodge # 849, A. F. & A. M. (Past Treasurer), Hereford Jaycee’s (Past President), Hereford Volunteer Fire Department and he coached Hereford’s Little League. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Leny; 3 sisters, Vera, Margaret, Mary; and 4 brothers, Henry, Earl, Raymond and Thomas. Survivors include 2 sisters, Bette Donaldson of Ohio, Ruth Caldwell of Colorado; 2 sisters-in-law, Adeline Loerwald of Hereford, Helena Loerwald of Denver; niece, Pat Simnacher and husband Albert of Hereford; cousin, Alice Lueb of Hereford; many other nieces, nephews and cousins; caregivers, Eva, Irene, Mary, Eva and Juanita. The family of Bill would like to thank the caregivers, Samaritan Hospice and the King’s Manor Staff for all the great care they gave Bill prior to his death. The family suggests memorials in lieu of flowers to Samaritan Hospice, 426 N.
