Funeral Home marker is damaged and no longer readable. Mrs. Pearl Goodson Bailey, 40 years old, died of pistol wounds at 6:30 o'clock last night at her home in the Victory Community, about 16 miles northeast of Childress. Justice of the Peace Wade McConnell of Childress returned a verdict of death by suicide. The fatal shooting occurred shortly after Mrs. Bailey returned from a trip to Childress food locker. She had been despondent over ill health. She was born in Childress County, March 20, 1908, and had lived here all her life. Mrs. Bailey is survived by her husband, Cecil, two sons, James Wesley and Elbert Roy Bailey, both of whom lived at home with their parents and a young daughter, Ruby, who also lived at home. Funeral services are to be held at the Olympus schoolhouse at 2:30 o'clock Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. S.L. Greenwood, pastor of the Alanreed Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Olympus Cemetery under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home of Wellington.l Amarillo Daily News December 24, 1948 Angie Mitchell Martin
