Ernest Mulder, 93, of Sioux Center, died Wednesday, August 2, in a Sioux Center hospital. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 7, at First Reformed Church of Sioux Center, Dr. Thurman Rynbrandt officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mulder was born May 2, 1896, in Sioux Center. He lived his youth on a farm west of Sioux Center and attended rural school at Center Township #2. He served in the Engineer Battalion of the United States Army during World War I. He married Maggie Van Deest December 2, 1919, in Sioux Center. They farmed west of Sioux Center. She died October 5, 1971. He was a member of First Reformed Church of Sioux Center, where he served on the Consistory. He was a township assessor for more than 30 years. He was a member of the American Legion, former president of the Sfoux Center Co-op Gas Association and secretary of the Creamery Board. Survivors include three sons, Joe of Montevideo, Minnesota, Theron of Sioux Center and Rodney of Louisville, Colorado; one daughter, Jeanette De Bey of Rock Valley; 21 grandchildren; and 29 greatgrandchildren.
