Raymond Joe Crowell of Boise passed away July 12, 2006. Ray was born July 3, 1943, the eldest of three sons, to Raymond Joseph Crowell and Erma Mae Worthington Crowell. Ray graduated from Ontario High School in Oregon in 1961. He received a medical discharge from the Marines. Ray served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Central States Mission. After his mission, he worked in Salt Lake City, UT and Sun Valley, ID, returning to Boise in 1966. There, he met Margaret (Maggi) Stephenson. They were married July 29, 1966 in the Idaho Falls Temple. Ray and Maggi moved to Sun Valley and in May 1967 welcomed the first of two chosen children. Ray joined the Boise Police Department in July 1968. He served honorably for 27 years. He worked in the patrol division, detectives, and undercover narcotics, retiring as a Corporal in the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program. Ray had a love for family history and gathering the names of ancestors. He faithfully served in many positions in the LDS Church as a Sunday school teacher and president, bishop´s counselor, elder´s quorum president, high priest group leader, and high counselor. Ray is survived by his wife Maggi; daughter Amy; son Joseph; his beloved second mom Florence Street Crowell; two brothers Jack (Charlene) Crowell and Lon (LeAnne) Crowell; one step-brother Stewart (Joan) Street; three step-sisters Diane (Ray) Hill, Patty (Norman) Moore, and Dorothy (Jim) Sprague; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Ray was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Erma Crowell; and one step-brother John Street. Funeral services will be held in the Hillcrest Ward LDS Chapel, Boise, July 17, 2006. Friends may call to visit with the family July 16th at Relyea Funeral Chapel, Boise and at the church prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.
