Bio

Charles had 17 children. 8 were born from his marriage to Martha Etta Barnes. They were married for 19 years before she died. Four of those children passed away in childhood. They were Hazel, Venetta, Jack & Gay. The surviving children all lived well into adulthood. They were Mildred (Roy Emmett), Floyd, Louis & Bernice (Fred Devine). In 1921 he married (Mary) Loretta (nee) Thomas. They were married for 47 years until his passing. Their nine children are Jay, Detta ("Babe" Marvich), George, Mary Alice ("Judge" Owens, Wayne Ker), Laura (Richard Nelson), JoAnn (Joe Vizarre), Jeannette (Dave Urban), Glenda (Robert Wilson) & David. The family had little money but would help everyone, with a smile. Charles would bring strangers he would encounter home for a meal, even though they had very little. Charles went to work as a night watchman at Coolidge Propeller in 1944, they all love him so much they let him work there until he passed away, 25 years later at age 87.
