The birth date for James is an estimate. Cause of death is also unknown. He married Lucy Cushman 3 Jun 1838 in Erie Co., PA. James, Lucy and their extended family traveled by covered wagon in the spring of 1869. They filed for a homestead in Nebraska, Lancaster County. James' grandson, Frank Owen, handmade his headstone. He and Lucy are buried in the row of Owen family members in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The cemetery and church are just a short distance from their homestead.
