Bio
Florence Christensen, 97, of Grand Island died on Thursday, July 16, 2015. Service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Gollaher Chapel. Reverend Russell Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in Grand Island City Cemetery. All Faiths Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Florence was born May 16, 1918, on the family farm in Greeley County to Hans and Mary (Petersen) Morrison. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Lawrence Covey of North Platte and Linda and Barry Hopkins of Grand Island; sister, Hannah Reynolds of Brighton, CO; four grandchildren, Holly (Lorne) Sedlacek, Ashley Covey, Kaylen (Amber) Harrison-Hopkins and Hilary (Alex) Hull; and three great-grandchildren, Maverick, Slyder and Isabel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Swend in 1992; parents; brothers, James and Julius; and sisters, Anna and Pearl. Florence grew up in Grand Island and graduated from Grand Island Senior High. She was united in marriage to Swend Christensen on December 2, 1941. Following their marriage, the couple made Grand Island their home. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Florence enjoyed baking and shared her talent with her granddaughters. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
