GILTNER — Marie Ott, 92, of Giltner passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at Hamilton Manor in Aurora. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora is in charge of the arrangements.. Marie Margaret (Ryder) Ott, the daughter of William and Edith (Mathess) Ryder, was born in Aurora, Neb., on April 14, 1923, and passed away in Aurora, Neb., on July 1, 2015, at the age of 92. Marie graduated from Aurora High School. In her youth Marie enjoyed roller skating and dancing. Marie was united in marriage to Wilbur (Fat) Ott on April 21, 1946, in Aurora. To this union four children were born: Sherlyn, Melvin, Linda and Dennis. After their marriage, Marie and Fat moved to Giltner, where she lived the remainder of her life. Marie worked many years at Memorial Hospital in Aurora. After retiring she spent several years working security at the Nebraska State Fair. Fat passed away on Feb. 26, 2006. During her married years Marie enjoyed spending time with her family fishing at Harlan County Lake and numerous deer hunting trips. She also loved attending her grandchildren’s events and all life had to offer. Marie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilbur (Fat); daughter, Sherlyn; daughter-in-law, Judy Ott; brother Billy; and sisters, Mabel Ryder, Lillian Pohl and Hazel Ott. Marie is survived by her son, Melvin Ott of Elba; daughter, Linda (Robert) Kohtz of Sutton; son, Dennis Ott of Grand Island; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy Ryder of Aurora; sister-in-law, Sherry Ott; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Freeman (Hump) and Betty Ott; and many nieces and nephews, and special nephew, Gary Ott.
