Virginia Rose Fanta, 69, of Grand Island passed away Monday, June 29, 2015, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home Chapel. Burial of ashes will be in the Ord City Cemetery at 2 p.m. Virginia was born April 3, 1946, at Ord to William and Rosie (Bruha) Vavra. She grew up on the family farm near Ord and graduated from Ord High School. After graduating, she worked for an insurance agency in Ord. She later made her home in Grand Island. She worked in various jobs in her time in Grand Island. She enjoyed walking, puzzles, visiting with people, reading, and collecting recipes. Virginia is survived by her son and his wife, Korey and Tracy Fanta of Cairo; grandchildren, Miranda, Breanna, Dillon and Kaden Fanta; sister-in-law, Susan Vavra; nieces and nephews, Lisa Bruha, Bob (Barb) Vavra, Allen (Janet) Vavra, all of Ord, and Brian (Christine) Vavra of Kearney; and numerous other extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Alvin Vavra.
