Ord — Alvin Vavra, 73, of Ord died Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2005, at Valley County Hospital in Ord. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ord Memorial Chapel, with Don Schauda officiating. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Mr. Vavra was born Nov. 5, 1931, in Valley County to William and Rosie (Bruha) Vavra. Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Susan Vavra of Elyria; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Allen and Janet of Elyria, Robert and Barbara of Ord and Brian and his fiancé, Christine Loseke, both of Kearney; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Mike Bruha of Ord; and a sister, Virginia Fanta of Grand Island. Additional survivors include five granddaughters, Elizabeth and Stephanie Vavra, Danielle and Kailey Bruha and Susie Vavra; a nephew, Korey Fanta and his wife, Traci Cairo; and great-nieces, Miranda and Brieanna Fanta. He was raised on his parents' farm and was educated in the Hillsdale School Dist. 30 in Valley County. He then farmed with his father. Alvin was married Aug. 28, 1965, to Susan Monroe at Hastings. They continued to farm and raise there family west of Ord. Alvin had been a member of the Fairplay rural school Dist. 26 and had served as president.
