Her grave is no longer marked. Sarah Hardy was married to Alfred Hardy who died in 1850 in Alabama of Yellow Fever, so he never came to Texas, but his death helped persuade Sarah, his wife, to join all the other families of Eastern Alabama, including her brother Abraham Health Chappell and his son James, who became the first postmaster of Douglasville. Children of Alfred and Sarah Hardy were as follows: Ann Eliza D., John Chappell, Martha Heath, and Rev. George Chappell.
