Bio

William Eakins was born, according to his obituary, 28 December, 1946 in Lawrence County, Ohio, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Etta McCall, in Ottumwa, Iowa on 7 April 1924. He was married to Sarah Rose, daughter of William Rose and Winifred Neal, on 23 Aug. 1868 in Gallipolis, Gallia Co., Ohio by Rev. Andrew Bostic. According to William's obituary, he and Sarah had ten children. One, a son Charles, died in infancy. The surviving children were Mrs. Ida Tidball, Mrs. Etta McCall, Mrs. Olive Lawson, and, Walter Eakins of Ottumwa; Mrs. Lizzie Cosby of Tremont, Iowa; Mrs. Luella Moss of Davenport, Iowa; Mrs. Myrtle Yeff and Roy Eakins, Jr. of Floris, Iowa. His funeral was conducted by the Free Methodist minister at the Ormanville church, after which he was buried in the Ormanville cemetery.
