Bio

Flora was born Flora Belle Shane on 20 Feb 1880 in Elk county, Kansas. She married Thomas N. Ashton on 03 Oct 1901 in Effingham county, IL according to IL marriage records. They were divorced prior to 01 Jan 1920 although in the 1920, 1930, and 1940 census reports she claimed to be a widow. Thomas' IL death record states he was divorced when he died in 1927. Newspaper articles from Decatur, IL indicate he died of heat prostration while working on the railroad. In Nov 1942 Flora and William S.(tewart) Norris took out a marriage license in St Louis, MO according to the Decatur Daily Review newspaper of 19 Nov 1942. I haven't found their marriage date as of yet, but in the Kimmundy Express newspaper William's obituary of 14 Dec 1950 said he was survived by his wife Flora. His first wife having died in 1934.
