Bio

Anton Sisel was born on July 3, 1921 in Dwight to Anton and Antonia (Tesina) Sisel. He grew up in Dwight where he attended rural grade school and graduated from Dwight High School in 1938. He served his country during World War II from 1942 to 1945 as a winch operator loading ships with war supplies on Prince Rupert Island in Canada. He attained a rank as Technical Sergeant. He married Adeline Hladky on October 19, 1943 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in David City. The couple lived in Prague, Weston and Millard and then retired to Washington, Nebr. In recent years, they have resided at Parson's House, Mar-quis Place in Elkhorn and Val-haven in Valley. He was a farmer, carpenter and maintenance engineer at Columbian Elementary School in Omaha. His parents preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife; daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Roger Ferdig of Arlington and Judy and Vince Toledo of Omaha; nine grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Leona Sisel of Sutton and Frank and Rosalyn Sisel of Raytown, Mo.; sisters, Adeline Cihal of Davey, Emily Stehlik of Crete and Lillian Soukup of Dwight; and sister-in-law, Albie Sisel of Dwight. Mass of Christian Burial was held Oct. 14 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Elkhorn with Rev. Ron Wasikowski officiating. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery in Omaha.
