born to James and Catherine (Chapek) Meduna. wed to Dorothy Fiedler at St. John Nepomocene Church in Weston, NE, on April 23 1949. survived by children, Marge DeVivo of Lincoln, Kathy Meduna of Wahoo, Ron (Sheri) Meduna of Weston, Joan (Steve) Berggren of Wahoo and Karen (Rodell) Plybon of Wahoo; grandchildren, Nate DeVivo, Madelyn Tvrdy, Chad (Racheal) Meduna, Chelsea Meduna, Erin (Mike) Simons, Emily (Brandon) Bliven, Molly (Kyle) Morgan, Ross (Kelsey) Plybon, Brett (Abby) Plybon and Grant Plybon; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Rose (Wes) Shepard of Lincoln and Betty (Floyd) Hutzenbiler of Rockville, Md.; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Fiedler) Meduna; brothers, Dan Meduna and Milo Meduna. Raymond James Meduna, 89, of Wahoo, NE, entered into eternal rest on Saturday,May 30, 2015, at South Haven Living Center in Wahoo. He was born on September 21, 1925 near Weston, to James and Catherine (Chapek) Meduna. Ray attended District 28 country school and he graduated from Weston High School in 1942. Following high school he entered the US Navy and served his country during WWII. Ray served on the ship that escorted the USS Indianapolis to the Mariana Islands, carrying the atomic bomb. He was honorably discharged in 1946. On April 23, 1949, Ray was united in marriage to Dorothy Fiedler at St. John Nepomocene Church in Weston. Ray was a lifelong farmer in the Weston area, as well as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a member of St. Wenceslaus and past member at St. John's in Weston, as well as a member of Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post #308, VFW #4502, and the Saunders County Livestock Association. Ray loved the daily coffee group at Sunmart and the Saturday morning breakfast club at the Wigwam. He enjoyed watching the grandchildren's activities and was a true sports fan. Ray is remembered widely for his jokes, stories and quick wit. He is survived by children, Marge DeVivo of Lincoln, Kathy Meduna of Wahoo, Ron (Sheri) Meduna of Weston, Joan (Steve) Berggren of Wahoo, and Karen (Rodell) Plybon of Wahoo; grandchildren, Nate DeVivo, Madelyn Tvrdy, Chad (Racheal) Meduna, Chelsea Meduna, Erin (Mike) Simons, Emily (Brandon) Bliven, Molly (Kyle) Morgan, Ross (Kelsey) Plybon, Brett (Abby) Plybon, and Grant Plybon; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters Rose (Wes) Shepard of Lincoln and Betty (Floyd) Hutzenbiler of Rockville, MD; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
