Bio

PARENTS: Harold Lloyd and Patricia Sterling Pryor Phillip Lloyd Pryor, age 47, left this world on May 25, 2015 at his home in Gober, TX. Phillip, often referred to as “Big Phil”, was born in Grapevine, TX on October 6, 1967 to Harold Lloyd and Patricia Sterling Pryor. He married Amy Bailey on April 3, 2005 in Jefferson, TX. Phillip had two children from a previous marriage, Jack Lloyd Pryor, 23, and Miranda Sterling Pryor, 20. Phillip left behind a legacy as big as he was. Phillip was a scholar and athlete from high school through college. He graduated from Denison High School in 1986 and was a member of the highly acclaimed Denison Yellow Jacket State Champion Football Team of 1984. He was a decorated offensive tackle having received such high accolades as All-State and All-American. Phillip pursued his football career into college at Oklahoma State University and finished his college career at Northeast Louisiana University. He graduated from Northeast Louisiana University with a Masters Degree in Psychology. While Phillip was a fierce athlete, he had a kind and gentle spirit, which is most likely what led him to pursue a degree in Psychology and a career helping others reach their full potential. He was a professor at Everest College in Dallas, TX and an adjunct professor at Kaplan, West Coast University and Concord all in Dallas, TX. Phillip enjoyed woodworking, fishing, collecting books, and lifting weights. He leaves behind a wife, Amy Pryor; a son, Jack Pryor; a daughter, Miranda Pryor; step-daughter; Sara Wright; his mother, Patricia Pryor; two brothers, David Pryor and Marcus Pryor; three nieces and one nephew, Emilee Pryor Petree, Lindsee Pryor, Chloe Pryor and Triston Pryor. Along with countless friends, colleagues and students. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Lloyd Pryor. Services will be held Friday at 11:00 am Friday at Elmont Baptist Church. Rev. Mark Fletcher will officiate and burial will follow in the Van Alstyne Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Scoggins Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Scoggins Funeral Home & Crematory, 637 W. Van Alstyne Parkway, Van Alstyne. 903-482-5225. He taught Psychology at Concorde Career College Dallas. Mr Pryor was not only a smart, funny, and excellent teacher he was a great friend. He always had a smile on his face and nothing but kind words to say no matter who he was speaking to. Mr. Pryor will be missed and remembered by all the hearts and lives that he touched over the years.
