Bio
Leo was the son of Nicolaus Gregorius and Kathrin Peters Gregorius. (Other sources give his middle initial as "G" but his draft registrations for both WWI and WWII give the middle name Joseph. Leo's siblings included Katherine "Kate," Michael, Andrew/Andreas, Anna, Mary/Maria, Anna Theresa "Tressie," and Leo I (b. and d. 1886). Leo married Josephine Hoffman in 1909 and they had nine children: Richard, Rosella, Victor, Robert, Alice, Sylvester, Edward, Joseph, and Earl. Leo was a farmer for some years and operated a tavern, "Wet Your Whistle," and adjacent motor car business in Darboy. After his wife Josephine's death in 1932, Leo married Helen Becker Christen in 1935; she was a widow who brought several children to the marriage. Leo and Helen had no children together.
