Killed in New Guinea during WWII and buried there; then remains were buried here July 10, 1948, according to his death certificate. Father: Joe M. Trojacek Mother: Mary J. Vrla May 31, 1942; Dallas Morning News Ennis, Texas -- Mr. and Mrs. Joe Trojacek of Telico have received a cablegram from their son, Pvt. Emil Trojacek, saying he arrived safely in Australia. Pvt. Trojacek was inducted into the Army Dec 1, 1941. He was transferred from the Fort Sill reception center to Camp Roberts, CA, where he received his training. Oct 25, 1942; Dallas Morning News Mr. and Mrs. Joe M. Trojacek have had a letter from their son, Pvt. Emil Trojacek, who has been in Australia, stating that he has been transferred to New Guinea. Purple Heart Given Mother for Her Son Ennis, Texas, April 12 – Mrs. Joe M. Trojacek has received the Purple Heart decoration that was awarded her son, Emil, posthumously. Private Trojacek was an infantryman and was killed in the Buna struggle in New Guinea in December 1942. Accompanying the Purple Heart was a letter from Major Gen. J. A. Ulio, adjutant general.
