Funeral services for Donald Leroy "Sonny" Chapman, 82, of Lamesa will be held Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Crestview Baptist Church in Lamesa with Bro. Charles Empey officiating. Interment will be in Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring at 2:30 p.m. under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 19, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home. Leroy passed away Sunday, May 17, 2015 in Lamesa. He was born October 29, 1932 in Lamesa to Howard and Edna (Turnbow) Chapman. He married Wanda Williams in 1968. Leroy served in the United States Army from 1953-1955. He attended barber school and cut hair from 1953 until 1963. He farmed from 1963 until 1999. Leroy was a lifelong Baptist church member. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Chapman of Lamesa; daughter, Sheryl Callaway of Lubbock; sisters, Opal Hudson of San Angelo, Helen Scitern of Lamesa, Beverly Cortese of San Angelo, and Sharon Eubanks of Joshua; and brothers, Johnny Chapman of Jal, NM, Billy Chapman of Lamesa, and Jerry Chapman of Lamesa. Leroy is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lavern Houpt, Wanda Derby, and Jo Ann Chapman; and brother, Junior Chapman.
