Bio

Florence Elizabeth Rabroker passed from this life into the next on May 14, 2015. She was born into a family of eight children on September 27, 1923, in Washington D.C. to Edwin Lansdale and Florence Harrington Lansdale, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 65 years, Robert Rabroker. She is survived by sons Robert and his wife, Lee, Stephen and his wife, Toni, Phillip and his wife, Mary Pat; daughters Dr. Mary Richey and husband, Dr. Michael Richey, Martha Sanders and husband, Dr. Charles Sanders, and Catherine Johnson and husband, Randy; brother, Gil Lansdale and sister, Joan Smith; fifteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. Known to all as Betty, she loved her faith, family, friends, dominos, Bunco, and chocolate. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in San Antonio for 45 years, serving as a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Altar Society, her beloved Very Special People, and as a volunteer who cleaned the church throughout the decades. She and dad could be counted upon to visit church members who were sick or grieving, usually with mom's "famous" 7-Up Cake in hand and a warm, reassuring smile on their faces. Mom and dad met in 1945 in Washington D.C. during World War II while he was serving in the military. Mother always said that hearing Eleanor Roosevelt speak of how young women could serve their country by joining the United Service Organization became a turning point in her life. She and our dad met at a USO dance, married 10 months later, and shortly thereafter moved to Texas. Mother was a beautiful woman whose great talent and passion in life was the ability to make others feel better. Cancer never robbed her of her sense of humor, her love for Our Lord, or her concern for the suffering and sadness of others. She will be missed terribly by all but we are secure in the faith that she is with her Savior, Our Lord, and reunited with our dad. Mass will be held at the Church of the Visitation in Westphalia, Texas, at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 26, 2015. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude's Hospital for Children, or the children's charity of your choice. These words will be engraved on her headstone: Loving wife, tender mother, faithful friend.
