Bio
Henrietta Zavodny Slavik, 102, of Waco, and formerly of Milam County, died Thursday, May 7, 2015, in a Waco nursing home. A rosary will be recited at 1:30 p.m., prior to the services at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron. Burial will follow in Saints Cyril & Methodius Catholic Cemetery. Henrietta was born in Meeks, Texas, to the late Joseph and Lydia (Bartos) Zavodny. She attended the Cyclone School. On September 24, 1935, she married Frank Slavik at St. Cyril and Methodius Church in Marak then moved to a farm in Milam County. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1973; a daughter, Lydia; brothers: Alfred, Jerry, and Joe Lee; and sister, Lillian Mikulec. Survivors include her daughter, Henrietta "Retta" Chandler, of Desoto; sons, Frank Slavik, of Hewitt, and Thomas Slavik, of Waco; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brothers, Leon Zavodny, of Rogers, and Milton Zavodny, of Rogers; other relatives and many friends.
