Bio

***DIRECT MAYFLOWER DESCENDANT (See notes below)*** Born "Mamie Inez Brown" (daughter of William Ellis Brown & Maria R. Brown) Mamie was born in Wisconsin spent her early years in there & by age 12 was residing with her family in Bedford, Nemaha County, Nebraska. On Jan 28 1886 at age 17 she married John Michael Kennell and they continued to live in Bedford, NE and later resided in Porter, Richardson County, NE and West Muddy, Stella (Richardson County), NE where she worked as a Milliner according to the 1920 Census. She & John Michael Kennell had 9 children who lived into adulthood: - Bessie Mae Kennell Wright (1888 - 1958) - Harley Lucian Kennell(1890-1953) - Chester Lincoln Kennell (1894 - 1957) - Rozella Iula Kennell McGurk (1896 - 1954) - Leo Eugene Kennell (1899 - 1980) - Clifford John Kennell (1902-1966) - Berniece Ramona Kennell Mason (1904 - 1965) - Helen Theresa Kennell Harp (1906 - 1985) - Leslie Bryan Kennell (1908 - 1961) In 1928 after 42 years of marriage her husband, John Michael Kennell suddenly passed away on a train while enroute to visit their son Chester in Grand Island, Nebraska. According to the 1930 Census Mamie then lived in Lincoln, NE with her sister, Zelma M. Minard & her family. In 1937 Mamie then married William S. Burr of Lincoln, NE. Only two years later at age 71 Mamie passed away. ***PLEASE NOTE: There is a Nebraska Court Case from 1907 "Mamie Kennell et. al., Appellants, v. Myron G. Randall, Appellee" which provides evidence for how the family members were related as follows: Judson Brown is Poly Mary Randall's 1st husband and they had one son, Ellis Brown (who is Mamie Kennell's father). Poly Mary Brown married Nathan Gordon Randall and they are Myron G. Randall's parents.*** *********************************************************** Mamie Inez Brown was a direct descendant to 7 Mayflower passengers through her father, William Ellis Brown and mother, Maria R. Brown's, lineages (William Ellis & Maria R. Brown were 1st cousins). Her Mayflower ancestors included John Howland and his wife, Elizabeth Tilley, Elizabeth's parent's John Tilley and Joan Hurst Tilley who both perished the first winter in the New World, John Cooke (his father Francis Cooke was also a passenger) and Richard Warren. Mamie Brown was also related indirectly to John Tilley's brother, Edward (Elizabeth Tilly's uncle) & his wife Ann Cooper Tilley both of whom also perished the first winter leaving Elizabeth an orphan at age 14. John Howland, John Tilley and his brother, Edward Tilley, Francis Cooke, and Richard Warren all signed the Mayflower Compact. Through Mammie's paternal grandmother, Poly Mary Ellis, (whose father's mother was Catherine Pearce) we can trace the family back to the Pearce family of Prudence Island, Rhode Island (descendants of John Pearce who was a mason who came to America from Wales circa 1660).
