Milton Bailey, 89, a resident of Los Alamos, passed away of natural causes on April 3, 2015. Milton was born in Pitkin, La., where he met and married his wife of 69 years, Melvena in July of 1947. Milton was a devoted husband to his wife as well as a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his wife Melvena; children Doug Bailey (Donna), Michael Bailey, and Gail Bailey; four grand-kids, and six great grandchildren. After graduating from high school in 1943, Milton joined the Marine Corps. A World War II era veteran, Milton served in the South Pacific where he and his fellow Marines were involved in the liberation of the island of Kwajalein. After the war, Milton and Melvena moved to Los Alamos, where he immediately became involved in nature conservation activities and would assist the Game Patrol when called. He was active on various committees and attended many meetings at the LA County. He enjoyed hiking, gardening, hunting, fishing, square dancing, bowling and travel. An X-ray Technician for various weapons projects at the Lab, Milton retired in 1986. He worked as a consultant on a Laboratory project until 1990. No services will be held at Milton's request.
