Bio

Thomas John Svatek, 86, of Colmesneil, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2005, at the Tyler County Hospital in Woodville. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 17 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Colmesneil with burial in Mann Cemetery in Colmesneil. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church before the service. Tommy was born on June 17, 1919, in Flatonia, Texas. He married Maxie Sturrock on January 21, 1961. They were happily married for 45 years, 30 of those spent living in Colmesneil, Texas. He was the greatest "Papa" to five grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was an active and well-loved member of First Baptist Church of Colmesneil. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxie Sturrock Svatek on August 18, 2005; her daughter and son-in-law, Jim and Sherry Mangum; and grandson, Tom Mangum. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Margaret Svatek, Jr., of Seguin; brother, Tony Svatek of San Antonio; grandchildren, Doug and Susan Mangum, Julie & Clay Calhoun, Jill and David Ricks, and Dee & Tim Pickens and fourteen great-grandchildren.
