daughter of John Jacob and Ruby Anna (Truhlar) Freese Rose "Rosie" Haskin, 78, of Denver, Iowa passed away peacefully on Friday, April 24, 2015 surrounded by her family at her residence in Denver. Rose Theresa Haskin was born on October 6, 1936, the daughter of John Jacob and Ruby Anna (Truhlar) Freese in Austin, Minnesota. She attended country school by the Ramsey Addition for 7 years and then in Austin, graduating from Austin High School in 1955. On July 16, 1955, she was united in marriage to Ernest Cecil Haskin Jr. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Austin, Minnesota. Rosie was employed at the Santa Claus Industries in Waterloo, Iowa for 3 years and then began cooking for the Denver High School in 1968 for 28 years, before retiring in 1996. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Denver and the "Stardusters" Square Dance Club. Rosie enjoyed gardening, doing puzzles, camping, trips to Minnesota, square dancing, cake decorating and Card Club; however, what she enjoyed most was spending time with family and friends. Survivors are her husband, Ernest Haskin of Denver, Iowa; daughter, Ida Mae (Craig) Torgeson of Radcliffe, Iowa; four sons, Mark (Dina) Haskin of Denver, Iowa, Rick (Julie) Haskin of Lakeville, Minnesota, Brett (Bugs) Haskin of Onamia, Minnesota and Brice Haskin (fiancé, Jenessa of Story City, Iowa; 5 grandchildren;4 great grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; 14 step-great grandchildren; 4 brothers, Jacob (Karen) Freese of Grand Meadows, Minnesota, Frank Freese of Austin, Minnesota, Joe (Betty) Freese of St. Paul, Minnesota and Ward (Sue) Freese of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota; 2 sisters, Joyce Chapek of Albert Lea, Minnesota and Pearl Ferguson of Austin, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruby Freese; granddaughter, Cari Fleming; 3 brothers, Elmer Freese, John Henry Freese Jr. and Ray Freese and a sister, Peggy Batdorf. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at 10:30 am at St. John's Lutheran Church in Denver with Pastor Larry Feldt officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Denver and also an hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.
