Bio
Thomas Junior Ashton, 71, of Sheridan, passed from this life on Friday, January 3, 2003. He was born April 13, 1931, at Eustace, Texas, a son of the late Eli Thomas Ashton and Eva Emiline Wilkerson Ashton. Thomas was a longtime member of Lorance Drive Church of Christ. He had a strong will and a sly but sharp wit, even in the last hours of his life. Our grief is not for him, but for ourselves, as he is deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Survivors include to cherish his memory a wife, Ethel Margie Hughes Ashton of Sheridan; a son, James Russell (Debbie) Ashton of Alexander, Arkansas; four daughters, Eva May (Charlie) Clelland of Livingston, Montana; Patricia Gene (Jerry) French of Sheridan, Arkansas; Jewell Marie Ashton of Chidester, Arkansas; and Iona Michelle (Bart) Dorsey of Hensley, Arkansas; a brother, Leonard Thomas Ashton of San Diego, California; 10 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his "special children", Joyce Jackson, Rhonda Grooms, Carolyn Clark and a host Of others too numerous to mention yet too dear to forget forget. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 6, 2003, at Buie Funeral Home at Sheridan with Carroll Sites officiating. Memorials may be made to the Arkansas Children's Hospital Leukemia Foundation. Arrangements by Buie Funeral Home of Sheridan, Arkansas.
