Bio

Thanks to contributor #48796369 Robert Drake, 84, of York died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, at Grand Island. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in York with Leroy Hoyer and the Rev. Dick Woolard officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in York. Visitation will begin after 5 p.m. Wednesday at Metz Mortuary in York. Mr. Drake was born May 10, 1916, at Arcadia to Orson and Lucia (Walker) Drake. He married Berneita J. Greek on April 26, 1940. He was a World War II veteran and was retired from Champion Home Builders in York. He was a member of the VFW and the York American Legion Post. He enjoyed woodworking, camping and fishing. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Rod and Barbara Drake of Omaha and Rick and Cindy Drake of Benedict; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Jerry Manning of Grand Island; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, one son, five brothers and two sisters. The Grand Island Independent, Nov. 7, 2001
