Everyone knew when she was around. She liked to be the center of attention as I recall as a child with her loud Czech voice. But this was in a good and funny way. I always had to laugh when she was around the family. Not a bit shy, she enjoyed people and enjoyed talking to everyone. It seemed that Vera liked to embarrass her two boys talking about girls in front of me. But it was all in a fun, good and caring manner that she did this. She had a heart of gold and was a very devoted and caring mother to her two boys and to her husband. She was my grandmothers' closet sister as they would talk on the phone for hours in their Czech language. I remember my grandfather getting angry, just once at her for talking on the phone for about two hours to Vera. I'm not sure what else could be said because they talked to each other about every day. I asked my grandmother to teach me the Czech language throughout my childhood, but she just smile. I guess she didn't want me to know what they were talking about, hmmm. Aunt Vera often called me Sophia Loren as a child and even when I grew up. She stated many times how beautiful Sophia Loren was, and I was just as beautiful as her. This made my mother very angry. Jamie (my mother) often told me that I was fat, ugly, stupid and that I would never amount to anything. My grandparents knew how I was treated as a child and my guess is that my grandmother told Vera this. Vera always graced me with kindness to lift up my spirits and to make me feel wanted. As we get older in life, time passes us by. We start our own family, perhaps move away from family members and before we know it, one passes away. Vera was one of a kind and I would not change a thing about her. I will never forget her beautiful smile, the laughter that comes with the loudness of her Czech voice, and her charm that could fill the room. She was an angel and will be missed dearly. All my love to you Aunt Vera. - above information submitted by Teresa Meyer, 2021 -
