Garland Thomas Humphries, 89, went to be with the Lord on April 11, 2015, in William R. Courtney Veterans Home in Temple. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Monday, April 13, 2015, at The Clifton Funeral Home Chapel in Clifton. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at The Clifton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Turnersville Cemetery. Garland was born in Seminole, Texas, to the late Arnold McCutcheon Humphries and Minnie Malinda Kleibrink Humphries. He served in the United States Navy for two years on the USS Pennsylvania in the early 1940s. He was a carpenter by trade and worked for various construction companies in Dallas and Waco. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lavaine; son, Leonard; and brothers: Leonard, Rusty, and Billy. Survivors include his daughter-in-law, Patsy; granddaughter, Lauri Brown; great-granddaughter; Katie Brown; sister, Claudine Young and her husband, Buddy; brothers, Claude Humphries and wife, Lola, and Nolan Humphries and wife, Shirley; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
