Son of Wenceslaus J. & Bessie (rech) Janky. He graduated from David City High School in 1942 and taught school in the Butler County area from 1942 - 1943. In June of 1943 Al joined the U.S. Army and served in the South Pacific during WWII until his discharge in February of 1946. On June 18, 1946 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Nozicka and lived in Lincoln, Nebraska for several years before returning to the Butler County area. From 1956 until the present he has resided on a farm near Bellwood. Al worked at Becton-Dickinson in Columbus for 30 years while also farming. He retired from Becton- Dickinson in 1985 but continued to farm until 1996. Al was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church - rural Bellwood where he had been a choir member, choir director, lector and acolyte. He was an Honorary Life Member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the BD Alumni where he was past president, vice president and treasurer. Al enjoyed farming, singing, listening to music, playing the accordion and traveling.
